It takes spirit and dedication to be a Daphne Trojan. Daphne High School has just that, a group of football players that have learned the true value of being a Daphne Trojan. With the dedicated support of coaches, teamwork, parents and the community, the Daphne Trojans can always walk away with a smile and the motivation to keep their head up. Daphne High School Trojan Football has a strong history, and the legacy will strengthen as Coach Glenn Vickery and his staff continues to groom and prepare these young men as early as their middle school years. Go Trojans!
The parents and supporters of the Daphne High School Trojans are great. They show up and display their Trojan spirit, no matter the distance and/or weather. True Trojaneers are on the road and ready to roll out in huge numbers to support the football team. Along with the “Sounds of the Eastern Shore” band, cheerleaders and parents; when it is time to represent Trojan spirit that is what anyone will see at a Daphne Football game—HOME or AWAY! The Daphne High School Football program has much talent, and is supported through leadership, parenting, fund raising and just true Trojan support from residents and Alumni who are proud to be a Daphne Trojan!
The Quarterback Club is a non-profit organization committed to providing for the needs of players and coaches in and out of season. The Daphne Trojans Quarterback Club’s goal is to ensure that the Daphne High School Football program remains one of the finest competitive prep athletic programs in the Gulf Coast area. The mission is to raise the funds necessary to provide the resources needed to reach and maintain that goal. More importantly, the Daphne Trojans Quarterback Club desires to provide the best possible atmosphere and environment allowing all student athletes to compete on an equal basis. With the continued support of families, friends, teachers, alumni and coaches, the Daphne High School community will continue to grow stronger in preparation of future citizens and leaders to become responsible, well-educated, productive individuals.
The year of 2009 has not been a clear winning streak for the Daphne High School Trojans. It has actually been a season in which the Trojans are experiencing a season that is defiantly “new territory” for the team and the fans. Here is what Coach Glenn Vickery stated about the team, “Of course the stands are filled with passionate fans that are emotional about the Trojan tradition, but true to Trojan spirit the fans are always supportive with positive reinforcement for the team and staff. There are two famous quotes that come to mind. The first one is “Never, never, never, never give up” by Winston Churchill; and the second one, “I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take the game winning shot and missed and I have failed over and over again in my life….And that is why I succeed,” by Michael Jordan. Trojan spirit is loud and proud at any event. However, during football season, anyone within a two to five mile radius of Trojan territory in Daphne can hear the band, crowd and team on a Friday night. The band gets the cheerleaders pumped up, the cheerleaders interact with the crowd to ignite the motivation and encouragement of the football players and the coaches, and before you know it, over the loud speakers: Touch down Daphne Trojans!
The Daphne High School Football team has something to smile about each time they play a football game: Daphne High School is ranked within the 6-A football division. Daphne High School has been to the State Championship finals two times, with a trophy and player with State rings to show off their Trojan pride. Daphne High School is the home recent first round draft of Pat White to the Miami Dolphins in the National Football League! Go Trojans! With the positive attitudes, academic enforcement and continued support of family and the community, the Daphne High School Football team will always remain number ONE!
Playing football initiates competition. The Daphne High School football team is all about some competition. Facing challenges and other talented athletes each time they gear up and to the field, be it home or away, the coaches and players know they have to put forth the effort to win the game. The Daphne High School Football team is taught each day that it is not just about winning each and every game, but to work together as a team for success.
The Daphne High School Football team should win this contest because they have “pride.” Pride can guide individuals to success and allow them to get into the real world and face reality based what they have been taught throughout their lives. With pride comes “support.” Without support it is hard to motivate an individual to maintain their pride and move forward towards success. The words pride and support are very familiar and strong words for the Daphne High School Football team. The parents and coaches of the Daphne High School Football team encourage players to have pride from within before they every step foot on the football field; and the same parents and coaches support the Daphne High School Football program. If you ever have the opportunity to speak with a parent that has a child on the Daphne High School Football team, ask them the amount they pay each season for their child to participate in the program. Rest assured, that because of the support of the parents and community that build up the Daphne High School Quarterback Club, you will hear the same answer each time; “no money spent!” With pride you will hear this, because the Daphne Trojans’ parents believe in supporting the team via volunteering time, support and effort that is absolutely priceless for a child’s future and goals.
