Reese’s Senior Bowl Releases Watch List

MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) The 2014-15 college football season kicks off next week, which means the Reese’s Senior Bowl will be scouting hundreds of players around the country to invite to its 66th game.

The core list of players the Reese’s Senior Bowl staff will evaluate appears on the Reese’s Senior Bowl’s annual ‘watch list,’ which was released Wednesday. The initial list includes 350 of the top players in the country. Players could be added to the list during the season.

"The release of our watch list signifies the opening kickoff for the Reese’s Senior Bowl," said Reese’s Senior Bowl Executive Director Phil Savage. "We are looking forward to evaluating these prospects over the next several months in trying to find the best 110 players in America."

A handful of Mobile-area players are on the game’s radar this season: Auburn center Reese Dismukes
Alabama fullback Jalston Fowler
Samford safety Jaquiski Tartt
South Florida offensive tackle Quinterrius Eatmon

Dismukes, a former Spanish Fort High School standout, is a preseason All-American and All-SEC center who has 37 career starts in three seasons with the Tigers. Fowler, a graduate of Vigor High School, has scored 10 touchdowns as a running back/H-back and is a devastating blocker for the Crimson Tide. Tartt, a Davidson High School graduate, is a hard-hitting safety and one of several small-school prospects the game will keep an eye on this season. Eatmon starred at Vigor High School, where he won a state title as a junior in 2008.

"Mobile is such a hotbed for football talent and once again there is quality representation on this list from the surrounding area," Savage said.

Also among the 350 players on this year’s watch list is a pair of fourth-year junior graduates who are projected to be top-10 selections in the 2015 NFL Draft, if they choose to leave school early: Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota and UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley.

"With both of these players already graduated from college, we hope the opportunity to invite this duo will present itself through their play on the field in the Pac-12," said Savage, who noted that Mariota and Hundley are two of five Pac-12 signal callers on the list.

The SEC, which had the most players selected in the 2014 NFL Draft (49), has the most players on the 2015 watch list with 75, comprising  nearly one-quarter of the list. The ACC (56), Pac-12 (40), Big 12 (36) and Big Ten (35) are all well-represented on the watch list.

Clemson led the way with 12 players on the list, edging Auburn (11), Alabama (10), Mississippi State (9), Georgia (8) and Louisville (8).

Some of the nation’s top players on the Reese’s Senior Bowl Watch List include:
Texas A&M left tackle Cedric Ogbuehi
Florida State offensive tackle Cameron Erving
Oregon cornerback Ifo Ekpre-Olomu
Clemson outside linebacker Vic Beasley
Iowa left tackle Brandon Scherff
Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty
Louisville wide receiver DeVante Parker

The 66th Reese’s Senior Bowl will be played on January 24, 2015 at Mobile’s Ladd-Peebles Stadium in front of a national television audience on NFL Network.
