Identity of Gulf Shores Spring Breaker Killed Released
UPDATE 3:45PM: Oklahoma State University has released this statement:
Oklahoma State University is saddened by the tragic death of one of our students. The sophomore from Flower Mound, Texas, was in Gulf Shores, Alabama, at the time of her death. The thoughts of the entire OSU community go out to her family and friends.
UPDATE 12:45PM: Police have released the name of the man they say hit student Kasey Waychoff, killing her.
Justin Ellis Lott, 29, from Montgomery, is charged with driving under the influence. Authorities say Lott was arrested by a Baldwin County Sheriff after he left the scene of the accident.
Additional charges are pending.
UPDATE 11:15AM: Officials have released the identity of the woman who was killed Thursday night. She has been identified as 19-year-old Kasey Waychoff.
A police department spokesman says the driver was drunk.
Waychoff was transported to South Baldwin Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced dead just before 2:30 a.m.
A spokesperson said the preliminary cause of death is blunt force injuries.
GULF SHORES, Ala. (WPMI) Gulf Shores Police confirm a 19-year-old female from Texas has died after being struck by a drunk driver Thursday night.
Police say the spring breaker was walking on West Beach Blvd. when she was hit by the vehicle. The unidentified teen later died at a local hospital.
The driver has been arrested. Identities of all those involved will be released later today along with additional information on the circumstances surrounding this fatality.
