MIT Students Invent Personal Thermostat
(WPMI) - A new invention out of MIT gives your body its very own heating and cooling unit.
This techy piece of jewelry is a Thermal Electric Bracelet that monitors air and skin temperature.
It can make you feel cooler or warmer by sending pulses to your wrist.
So no more fighting over the thermostat.
Four students at MIT came up with the idea and theyve now got an extra ten grand in the bank to make the project even better.
The financial boost came from winning MITs annual Materials Science Design Competition.
Sending pulses of hot or cold wave forms to your wrist - the bracelet helps maintain so called - thermal comfort.
Wouldnt it be nice to receive a cool down post workout?
But the wristy team has even bigger goal; they hope the invention will cut energy use in buildings.
The idea is buildings wouldnt have to constantly use massive heating and cooling units if individuals can control their own body temperature.
Its still unclear if this idea out of MIT will ever make it to buyers. Some formal winners have gone on to commercialize their products but its not necessarily a step top finishers always take.
