Parents Arrested For Leaving Infant At Home
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Mobile Police say a couple left their 2-month-old home alone for two hours Tuesday night.
It happened in the 900 block of Nellie Street. Michelle Moore and Marshall Rogers are charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Two hours after being booked into Mobile Metro, they were released.
Police say a neighbor heard the baby girl crying and called police. Two hours later, police say, the couple showed up at the house. Investigators say the parents claimed they left to go get food and that it took much longer than they anticipated.
Investigators said the pair did not appear to be intoxicated or on drugs but did say the home was filthy. We spoke with the neighbor who first heard the infant.
"I just think it's so horrible that you can leave your newborn infant at home while you're gone, and the baby's in deplorable conditions. When I got the baby, the baby was so soiled and so wet. She was starving. She had both her fists inside her mouth," said the neighbor, who did not want to be identified.
Both are set to be in court November 25.
