Say What: Fire Congress?
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Like many Americans, folks in Mobile are frustrated with Congress waiting again until the last minute to avoid a major economic crisis.
Downtown, the drama in Washington was viewed as a repeat performance from the same cast.
"Mostly, it's politics and that's something that'll keep going," Leon Smith said.
When asked what approval rating he would give Washington lawmakers, Smith replied, "I'd give them about a good 45, and that's probably high."
Even with that number, Smith said he was not ready to fire everyone in Congress.
"I kind of know how it's going to go: at the last minute, they're going to come up with something."
That assessment sounds like a familiar song in the book of T. Parker.
"They just need to come to an agreement," the trumpeter said, "Both parties need to get along."
Parker added he was not ready to fire all of Congress either.
"You know, something's got to change."
If lawmakers are listening, they'll hear the voices that gave them their jobs; telling Washington to never walk this road again.
