Ala Man Pleads Guilty in Killing of 2 Women
TALLADEGA, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama man has pleaded guilty to killing his girlfriend and her mother in 2011.
The Daily Home reports that 39-year-old Anthery Leaketh Dowdell of Talladega pleaded guilty to capital murder.
The man will serve life without parole. Talladega County District Attorney Steve Giddens says prosecutors didn't seek the death penalty at the request of the victims' family.
Dowdell was accused of fatally shooting his 32-year-old girlfriend, Toni Adams, and her mother, 54-year-old Carolyn Jean Adams.
Police found the body of Dowdell's girlfriend in a street after getting a call about a man chasing a woman down a road.
Officers identified the victim and went to her home, where they found the body of her mother.
Authorities arrested Dowdell a few days after the killings.
