Stolen House Left in Busy Intersection
MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WPMI) It was a strange sight to see, a house parked in the middle of a busy street. A man had bought the house planning to move it to Creola for a client. The house had to be cut in three pieces to move, but before the owner could do so, someone allegedly stole part of his house.
Joel Glenn Reed said he was shocked when authorities knocked on his door to tell him one of his homes was in the middle of Schillinger Road and Lott Road.
"I wish I knew who it was," said Reed. "Somebody stole it from where I had it parked from out there on Schillinger Road where I bought it from the state."
Reed owns Reed House Movers. He said the red house was on its way to Creola, but before it could reach its dedication, it was allegedly stolen.
"They stole this piece, going to take it home I guess. I had it sold to somebody," said Reed.
A surprised driver captured video of what appeared to be an S-10 pulling the home with a trailer.
"Evidently they couldn't make the turn. They tried to turn too fast and lost trailer building and all," said Reed. "If anybody has any idea or seen this building coming down the road, seeing what truck was pulling it, call (251) 404-1152 or either call 911 where we can have them arrested because this could have killed someone."
