Candy Lady Murder Suspect Was on Probation
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) A man charged in the murder of a neighborhood candy lady was on probation for a violent crime spree that included armed robbery.
Maurice Harris, 21, was charged with murder, robbery and violation of probation in the June 2013 shooting death of 65-year-old Lai Robinson in her own home.
In 2009, Harris was convicted of a crime spree with his cousin in which they robbed two women at gunpoint and broke into homes to steal items. In one of the homes they broke into, Harris cousin raped a 16-year-old babysitter.
Investigators said Harris did not live in Robinsons neighborhood, and was in the area for drug activity.
More arrests could be on the way, according to Mobile Police. As of right now, Harris has not been identified as the triggerman.
