Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Eagles announced Thursday the signing of quarterback Dennis Dixon to a two-year deal.

The 28-year-old, who played under Eagles coach Chip Kelly when Kelly was the offensive coordinator at Oregon, spent last season on the Baltimore Ravens' practice squad.

Originally selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fifth round of the 2008 NFL Draft, Dixon has thrown for 402 yards on 35-of-59 passes with one touchdown and two interceptions in his career. He has two Super Bowl rings with Pittsburgh (2008) and Baltimore this past season.

During his senior season in Eugene for the Ducks, Dixon thrived under Kelly, throwing for 20 touchdowns, while rushing for 583 yards and nine touchdowns. He finished fifth in the Heisman Trophy voting in 2007, despite playing just 10 games after an injury ended his year.
