Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - The Minnesota Timberwolves made it official on Friday and announced the signing of swingman Josh Howard.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The team first mentioned Howard's signing on Thursday, pending a physical, and waived guard Will Conroy to open a roster spot.

"We're pleased to add a proven veteran in Josh Howard to our team," said Wolves president of basketball operations David Kahn in a statement Friday. "Josh has been a productive player in our league for nine years and will add to our depth at the wing position."

Howard averaged 8.7 points and 3.7 rebounds in 43 games for Utah last year. He owns career averages of 14.5 points and 5.7 rebounds over 496 games, including 399 starts, for Dallas, Washington and Utah.

The nine-year veteran out of Wake Forest was an All-Star during the 2007-08 season with Dallas and helped the Mavericks to the NBA Finals in the spring of 2006.

Minnesota has been decimated by injuries early this season. Forward Chase Budinger underwent knee surgery on Tuesday and joined Kevin Love, Ricky Rubio, Brandon Roy and J.J. Barea on the sideline for the Wolves.
