Recap: Texas vs. Oakland
Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - David Murphy and Adrian Beltre slugged first- inning homers to back a solid performance from Ross Wolf, and Texas clipped Oakland, 3-1, in the finale of a three-game set.
Murphy's blast was a two-run shot and Beltre added a solo homer for the Rangers, who avoided a sweep at the hands of their division rivals.
Recalled from Triple-A prior to the game for his first major league start, Wolf (1-0) gave up a run on three hits with three strikeouts and a pair of walks over five-plus innings.
Brandon Moss drove in the lone run and Derek Norris added two hits for the Athletics, whose five-game win streak came to a halt.
Jarrod Parker (2-6) was charged in defeat for six hits and three runs while fanning five in seven full frames.
