Recap: Loyola-Chicago vs. Milwaukee

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Tony Meier led the way with 26 points as the Milwaukee Panthers took down the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers, 78-69, in Horizon League action at Gentile Arena.

Paris Gulley added 19 points for the Panthers (19-12, 11-7 Horizon), while James Haarsma chipped in 14 points.

For the Ramblers (7-22, 1-17), Ben Averkamp finished with 16 points, Jordan Hicks scored 13 points and Denzel Brito added 10 points.

Both teams started the contest shooting well. Loyola hit on 50 percent of its field goals. Milwaukee connected on 57.1 percent, including 7-of-11 from beyond the arc, as the Panthers took a 32-26 advantage into halftime.

The second half saw the same sharp shooting. The Ramblers knocked down 57.7 percent from the field, including 5-of-9, from three-point range. The Panthers topped that, hitting 60.9 percent, and 4-of-9 from long distance. After seeing its lead cut to just one, 44-43, with just under 12 minutes to play, Milwaukee used a 16-7 run to push its advantage to double digits and Loyola got no closer than six the rest of the way, as the Panthers snatched the road victory.

Milwaukee scored 18 points off of 11 Loyola turnovers. The Ramblers held a slight advantage in points in the paint, 32-28.
