Recap: Houston vs. Tulane

Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Jonathon Simmons scored 23 points, pulled down eight rebounds and dished out five assists, as Houston dominated Tulane, 82-53, at Hofheinz Pavilion.

TaShawn Thomas had 13 points and Alandise Harris scored 11 with both players grabbing nine rebounds for the Cougars (14-14, 6-9 C-USA), who shot 69 percent (20-of-29) in the first half. Joseph Young and Darian Thibodeaux each scored 12 with Thibodeaux tallying five assists for Houston, which play at Rice in the regular season finale Saturday.

Josh Davis totaled 22 points and 12 rebounds for Tulane (15-14, 3-12), which is mired in a six-game slide. The Green Wave shot 32.2 percent and was outrebounded, 41-27.

Houston also held a 46-26 scoring advantage in the paint and a 16-2 cushion in fast-break points to get revenge for a 21-point loss at Tulane on Feb. 4.

A layup from Thomas moved the Cougars to an early 14-4 lead and the hosts enjoyed a 44-30 halftime edge. Houston then opened the second half on a 13-1 run to make it a blowout.

Tulane, which went 9-of-32 shooting in the second half, finished the game 5- of-21 from three-point range.
