Recap: Clemson vs. NC State
Clemson, SC (Sports Network) - Andre Young hit two three-pointers in the final minute and a half of overtime to help lift the Clemson Tigers to a 72-69 victory over the NC State Wolfpack in ACC action at Littlejohn Coliseum.
Young finished with 12 points for Clemson (15-13, 7-7 ACC) while Milton Jennings led the team with 17 points. Tanner Smith chipped in 15 points and Devin Booker grabbed 10 rebounds for the Tigers, who have won four of five.
For NC State (18-11, 7-7), C.J. Leslie and Lorenzo Brown scored 18 points a apiece. Brown also dished out six assists and C.J. Williams added 16 points for the Wolfpack, who have lost four in a row.
Clemson shot an impressive 53.8 percent from the field in the first half and it took a 34-30 lead into the break.
The Tigers led by as many as eight points in the second half, but the Wolfpack tied the game at 54-all on a Williams layup with 7:02 left. The teams spend the final minutes of regulation on the sea saw, and down two with just six seconds remaining, Smith went to the foul line for Clemson, where he hit two clutch free-throws to tie the game 62-all. A Leslie three-point attempt was off the mark and the teams headed to overtime.
In the extra session, NC State went up 69-66 with 2:28 left on a Brown basket. A little more than a minute later, Young hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 69-all. Brown drew a foul with 44 seconds left but missed both free-throws, leaving the door open for Young to hit the game-winner. A three-point attempt by Leslie in the waning seconds did not fall for NC State.
