(WPMI) - Keyless entry, it's used to unlock front doors, car doors and now it's ready to unlock your bike.
Bitlock is the brain child of San Francisco based engineers, Mesh Motion . They're on kick starter promoting their smart bike lock, which uses your smart phone to unlock.
The entire process is hands free and virtually thought-free.
The goal is a safer bike lock that uses the key you already carry with you, your phone. Bitlock engages and disengages every time you're within three feet of your bike.
The advantages of keyless entry are only the beginning. The creator shifted gears to produce a bike sharing community promoted by Bitlock.
Anyone using the system can communicate with other users via the app, like friending them. Friends can be granted full or temporary permission to unlock and use your bike. Bitlock explains the possibilities of this network.
Everytime you use Bitlock, the location is stored in your phone so you don't forget where you parked. It's also weatherproof.
Bitlock costs $79.
