(GULF SHORES, Ala.)  Thrill seekers get excited! A zipline is going in at Gulf State Park. The park is known for its camp grounds, the beach and fishing. Now visitors will get to fly through the skies.

Driving by you might have seen the towers going up. Project Manager Tom Schlinkert is banking on the this becoming the ultimate adventure come spring time. They're calling it the Hummingbird Zipline. "All of our towers and our grounds will have educational signage and each zip line group will take a tour with two guides and those guides will be very well schooled in all the components of the park.

"Once you take this two and half tour on the zipline you will learn from signage on the towers as well as from very well educated guides," said Schlinkhert. The adventure, which will take about 2 hours to complete consists of six ziplines, four of which will travel over the waters of Lake Shelby.

The sixth zipline, 90 feet in the air, will have a dual cable, this way you can race a friend to the finish line. "We were able to get the very best builder in this arena, a company out of North Carolina. A highly specialized group of people who come in here on a ten day on ten day off basis and build this, " said Schlinkert.

Still under construction and not open to the public, it was up to the folks who work here to give us our first look. "Our guides will go through what's called ACCT certification . That training gives the ability to get you through whole zip line safely. You will go through smaller zip line examples. We will train you making sure you are capable and able to go through the zip line itself, " said General Manager Andrew Hudson.

This project a public / private partnership and is set to bring new life to the State Park and it's expected to be a huge family friendly draw to the coast. The Gulf Adventure Center is scheduled to open March 1st and plans to hire close to 50 people. For more information click on the find it section.
