MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Two mothers of passengers currently on the Carnival Triumph have traveled to Mobile to meet their daughters.

The two girls were traveling with their dads to Mexico to enjoy the trip of a lifetime. However their plans soon turned sour after the ship’s engine room caught fire.

When asked about her daughter Rebecca, Mary Perot of Lufkin, Texas said, "She's the love of my life."

Mary Perot and Kim McKerreghan got the frightening news in brief phone calls from their daughters. However communication was soon lost leaving them with little information.

When asked how the situation made her feel, McKerreghan said it felt as though your “stomach ties up in knots and you pretty much fall over!"

"There's nothing you can do," echoed Perot, "What do you do? Your daughter's in the middle of the ocean!"

They will be at the Alabama Cruise Terminal to make sure that their daughters are greeted personally.

Even though Carnival assured passengers they would be transported back to Texas where the cruise began, these moms wanted to make sure they got their daughter's home safely.

"It was supposed to be the time of their lives," said Perot, "And I guess it was, but not the direction we wanted."
