SARALAND, Ala. (WPMI) The teen accused in a carjacking and subsequent deadly gas station explosion has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Seventeen-year-old Patrick Smith was in court Wednesday morning. He's charged with five counts, including robbery, theft and assault. Smith was denied bond and will be back in court February 27 for a preliminary hearing.

Police say Smith was the passenger in a stolen pickup truck, which lost control and slammed into a gas station pump. The driver, 25-year-old Leroy McCaskill Junior Anderson was killed in the wreck.

Investigators are still piecing together an apparent crime spree, including a shooting and other possible carjackings, and an armed robbery at a cemetery, where an elderly couple visiting a grave site was held at gunpoint and forced to give up their keys.

As an accomplice, Smith could potentially face a murder charge because Anderson died during the crime. That will be up to the District Attorney's Office.
