(ATLANTA, Ga.) - Police at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport are searching for those involved in the egging of the New Orleans Saints charter bus Wednesday night.
Airport administrators said an airport worker threw eggs at the Saints team bus right after the team landed in Atlanta for the rivalry game at the Georgia Dome Thursday night. Investigators said it happened in a secure area where only airport workers have access, but they aren't sure if the egger works for an airline or for the airport.
"It's not funny at all," Aviation General Manager Louis Miller said, "I just think it's inappropriate behavior. No doubt about it."
Miller said the Saints charter bus was leaving the airport terminal last night when an airport worker splattered the bus.
"It's my understanding there were three or four eggs thrown," Miller said. "Might have been from one person, not a lot of people. So it's not a big amount.
"We have not figured out exactly who it is or where it was at, but we're looking into that very quickly to find out where it was thrown."
The incident first came to light after several New Orleans Saints commented about it on Twitter.
Saints tight end Jimmy Graham tweeted Wednesday night, "Bus just got egged after landing in ATL by the ramp workers. Classy! "RISE Up" smh"
Quarterback Chase Daniel also tweeting, "Wow, as we're boarding buses on the Tarmac @ Atlanta airport, we start getting eggs thrown @ us by airport workers! Guess they do hate us."
Finally linebacker Will Herring tweeted, "First time my bus has been egged by opposing fans! Tomorrow should be fun!! #WhoDatNation"
Louis Miller said it is the first time something like this has happened at the massive airport, but it shouldn't cause an alarm.
"It's not a smart thing to do. It's not a wise thing to do," Miller said, "I don't see it as a security breach."
Miller said punishment for those involved has not been determined yet. He said airport administrators will instruct airline station managers and concession staff to retrain their employees.
