(DOG RIVER) - Volunteers worked hard Thursday to restore one local park.
Volunteers from the 101,000 Program were at Helen Wood Park to lend a helping hand. This is the same group who is restoring oyster reefs across the Gulf Coast.
"What would a shoreline look like with these oysters? And we looked around and realized this would be an oak-sheny, which is an old name for a shoreline place where there's big oaks. So we're recreating that scene here at Helen Wood Park," said volunteer Bill Finch.
Volunteers say the goal is to give folks in the community a place to come and see the shore and oaks.
