Red Cross Helping Folks with Power Bills

MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Residents needing assistance paying their electric bills can apply for help beginning Monday.

The American Red Cross Alabama Gulf Coast Chapter will hold interviews for its Project SHARE (Service to Help Alabamians with Relief on Energy) Monday, Jan. 28.

To qualify for assistance, the family income must be within certain guidelines. The head of the household must also meet one of the following:
  • 62 years of age or older
  • Receiving a disability check

For those who qualify, payments will be made directly to the energy supplier, like Alabama Power.

Appointments will be taken Mondays and Tuesdays, from 9 - 11 a.m. If you live in Mobile County and want to apply for assistance, call (251) 544-6101 or (251) 544-6102. Interviews will be Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning Feb. 5, from 9 - 11 a.m.
