(MOBILE, Ala.) Murphy High School teachers and students are adjusting after learning they will be starting off in the spring at a new school. They will instead head to Clark-Shaw Magnet School. The high school was ravaged with damage from Tuesday's tornado.
Instead of finishing her senior year at Murphy High, Allison Fain will spend second semester at Clark-Shaw Magnet School.
"I just don't think that going into a middle school situation with middle schoolers there is the answer," said Fain.
Allison's mother, Missy, has many concerns. One, being safety. Murphy kids will now learn in 50 portable classrooms. They aren't crazy about the commute either.
Frustration is coming from both sides. Janet Scerri has a seventh grader at Clark-Shaw.
"Her concern is just it's going to be really crowded. Students will have to share the gym. Is it big enough," said Scerri.
As a parent, she has doubts about the merger too, traffic and parking.
School officials say plans are still being organized. They said they had to make a quick decision and Clark-Shaw was the best solution.
Clark-Shaw students will return to school January 7th. Parents are invited to attend a question and answer meeting there January 3rd, at 6 p.m.
The meeting for Murphy parents will be held at the Mobile Civic Center on January 2nd at 7 p.m.
