ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (WPMI)  Orange Beach Mayor Tony Kennon wants displays of obscene t-shirts moved out of sight of the general public visiting souvenir shops.

Some city leaders say they're not trying to keep stores from selling the shirts, but want them in a room with restricted access.

Tuesday night, the city council took the issue, but they couldn't make a decision.

"Our state law requires we present this to the public on two occasions, unless the council unanimously votes to suspend the second and vote on it the first," said Orange Beach Mayor Tony Kennon. "We did not have unanimous support. One council member was not comfortable and wanted to wait a week."

Grant Brown with the city of Gulf Shores says his city council is also drafting similar rules.
