OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WPMI) An Okaloosa County undercover operation led to two arrested on controlled substance charges.

The Okaloosa County Multi-Agency Drug Task Force attempted to buy controlled synthetic drugs from several convenience and specialty stores in the county. The DTF found one store, Gina’s 99 Cents Store in Ft. Walton Beach, openly selling the substances known as “Spice, K-2, and Bath Salts.”

Friday afternoon the DTF confiscated controlled substances from the store and arrested Luis Meza-Curz, 20, for sale of a controlled substance within 1000 ft. of a church. Officials also arrested 43-year-old Timothy Peters for the sale of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute.

The DTF has had successful undercover synthetic drug operations prior to Friday’s incident. Since January 2012, the DTF has made 62 separate undercover buys of illegal synthetic drugs from local businesses, executed 22 search warrants, made four arrests with more pending, and seized eight vehicles along with more than $625, 000 and $2.9 million in inventory.
