MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) - in the world of baseball home is something special. It is protected and it's also used to win.
For the Murphy High School Panthers, home means much more thinking back just 3 months.

During the Christmas tornado the team lost a facility and all its equipment. As students, they've moved to a different building for classes just waiting to get back to the place they know best.

"Just being used to our campus, we love Murphy," Murphy junior Raven Evans said. Anyone with a Murphy connection feels no different.

"I went to Murphy and I hate to see the school like it does, but the kids have a lot of spirit," alumnus Jim Sockwell said from the stands at Mims Park.

The varsity baseball team showed it on the field; and what better place than at home, for the first time this season.

"Our student-athletes have been model citizens, students and leaders on our campus," Coach Kevin Williams said, "Our principal came to us early and said to us, 'You guys are going to be the face of the school for a little while and show all of the other students what its about and achieve one goal as a team.'"

No matter what the score of Friday's game, the Panthers always will be winners.

"These kids are playing better baseball right now than they have in quite some time," a parent added.

The team has proven that home is the place where nothing compares.

Murphy won Friday night's match up against B.C. Rain 13-3.
