MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Voters who plan to vote for vacant Alabama House District 97 seat in Mobile, left vacant by the late Dr. Yvonne Kennedy, will have to vote elsewhere on Tuesday, Feb. 26. An emergency poll location change has gone into effect.

Precinct #43, formerly located at Murphy High School, has been changed to West Side United Methodist Church, located at 269 Mohawk Street, 36606.

Murphy High was heavily damaged by the Christmas tornado that struck the midtown area of Mobile.

Judge Don Davis, Mobile County's Judge of Probate and Chief Election Officer, announced this change.

Postcards have been sent to all eligible, active registered voters in this district.

Not all Precinct #43 voters are eligible to participate in the upcoming special election because only a portion of the precinct lies in House District 97.

Voters who need to verify eligibility to vote in the special election can visit the elections page of the court's website http://www.probate.mobilecountyal.gov/.

Voters can also call the Mobile County Board of Registrars at 251-574-8586.
