More than 40K Gallons of Sewage Overflows after Heavy Rains

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WPMI) More than 40,000 gallons of sewage overflowed in various parts of Mobile County Friday due to the flooding from heavy rains.

Mobile Area Water and Sewer System responded to 14 calls and cleaned up 44,000 gallons of sewage:

Health officials in Mobile County are urging residents to take precautions when coming into contact with any standing water. Individuals who have come into direct contact with untreated sewage are advised to wash their hands and clothing thoroughly.

All seafood harvested in affected areas should be thoroughly cooked before consumption. Individuals should wash their hands after cleaning any fish or other seafood and also before preparing food.
