(MOBILE, Ala.) - With the biggest days of Mardi Gras upon us, some hotels in Downtown Mobile are expecting record-breaking business.

The Renaissance Battle House and Riverview Hotels are booked full through Mardi Gras Day, and expect to feed around 10,000 people watching parades, attending balls and staying for the last few nights of the season.

"We are completely full," said RTJ Golf Trail and Resorts Public Relations Director Bill Lang. "Between Battle House and Riverview we're housing about 600 guests literally from around the world. We have folks from Malaysia, from Sweden, from the Caribbean.

"There's a lot of magic that happens behind the scenes to make all of this Mardi Gras stuff work."

Battle House Chef Marty Pollock said more than 20 chefs will serve up hundreds of hand-crafted pizzas, sandwiches and danishes to four different restaurants, and that is not including the late-night room service.

"This time we keep it open until two a.m," Pollock said. "Just yesterday we fed almost a thousand. We will probably hit, between the two hotels, probably close to 10,000.

"We love this time of year. Everybody's here, it's good to see the streets full, people having a good time. That's what gets us going."
