(TUSCALOOSA, Ala.) One week after what seemed to be a devastating loss to Texas A&M, Alabama is back in the National Championship hunt.
Bama is ranked 2nd in the latest BCS poll, so if the season ended now, they'd be in. They moved up thanks to Kansas State's loss to Baylor, and Stanford's win at Oregon. Notre Dame is No. 1, followed by Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Oregon.
The question is: what's at stake besides bragging rights for this weekend's Iron Bowl.
For Auburn, it's nothing but pride and that's likely to take a beating in Tuscaloosa. For Bama, they have back what they lost a week ago: control of their destiny.
They beat Auburn and Georgia in the SEC Championship game. They'll play for another national title regardless of what happens anywhere else. It came together for the Tide late Saturday night.
First in Waco, as heavy underdog Baylor upset top ranked K-State. This game wasn't even close, the Bears ran all over K-State 52-24. The Wildcats stay at the top was a brief one, dreams of a national championship in the little apple are history.
In Eugene, it was much close,. 13th ranked Standford got a 34 yard field from Jordan Williamson in overtime to upset second ranked Oregon and that kicked Bama back into the title picture.
