Labor Dept. Provides Funds for Isaac Cleanup

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The state of Mississippi has received $1 million from U.S. Department of Labor to continue cleanup, recovery from Hurricane Isaac.

The National Emergency Grant was made to the Mississippi Department of Employment Security.

Labor Department officials say the additional funding makes possible the continuation of temporary jobs in areas rebuilding from Isaac.

Fourteen Mississippi counties were declared eligible for the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Public Assistance Program. They were Claiborne, Clarke, Forrest, Greene, Hancock, Harrison, Hinds, Jackson, Jefferson, Jones, Lincoln, Marion, Pearl River and Wilkinson.
