(Dauphin Island, Ala.)   It's the parade before the parade.

And it happens every year the day before Dauphin Island's Krewe de la Dauphine kicks off Mardi Gras season on the Gulf Coast.

While the parade is on the island, the float barn is not.

And that means each float must be wrapped in plastic before it's towed to the island.

"Being that we are remote and being that far away from the island, it's a little bit difficult," said Krewe leader Rickey Henderson. "And a little extra work involved, but it's a lot of fun. You see the people down here, they're having a good time doing it. Everybody helps each other, wrapping their float."

And with that knowledge they're ready for the 10 mile trip to the island.

Each float is hooked up to a pickup truck.

The trek takes them over the Mississippi Sound and over the long and lanky Dauphin Island Bridge.

A quick check behind them reveals the plastic wrap is holding.

The floats will overnight at the Dauphine Island Marina.

And, somehow, they all fit inside.

This KDLD Krewe keeps the party pumping no matter what obstacle comes its way.

And they hope you will come their way, when the Krewe rolls at 1 p.m. Saturday on Dauphin Island.
