(MOBILE, Ala.)  Thieves are getting more brazen, this time targeting your Christmas decorations. We told you last week about thieves following delivery drivers, then stealing packages delivered right to your doorstep. Now some local grinches are stealing the holiday spirit itself.

Victims say it's not about the money as much as it is the sentiment. They put a lot of time and care into decorating their homes for the holidays. When their items disappeared, so did a little piece of their Christmas spirit.

Earlier this week, reindeer lights and other items were swiped a yard in the 6000 block of Sandra Drive in Theodore.

"I don't know why anyone would stoop to something doing something like that," said Stan Matthews. He and his mother live down the street. Immediately when they heard the news, a familiar movie came to mind.

"How the Grinch Stole Christmas," said Matthews.

Also this week someone stole a couple of wreaths from a home in the 900 block of Government Street in Mobile. Holiday decor still covers most of the house, but two windows are now empty.

"Some folks just have a little mean spirit to them. This is the time of year for giving and people should be thankful for what they have," said Matthews.

Police say unfortunately these types of crimes happen every year all over the country. You can always lock or nail down your decorations to make it a bit tougher for thieves to steal them.
