MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) A gag order request in the Eight Mile odor case was postponed Friday after the judge revealed to attorneys that he may be a little too close to the case for their comfort.

Two weeks ago the attorneys representing Mobile Gas filed a motion, requesting attorney Patrick Courtney, who represents some Eight Mile residents, from speaking to the media.

Today before the court hearing began, Judge Ben Brooks told the attorneys involved that both he and his clerk have ties to other attorneys representing other Eight Mile residents.

The attorneys involved in the gag order request are talking with their clients and will let the judge know next week if they're comfortable with him handling their case.

To speed up the process, a new judge may be appointed.
