MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Corporal Eddie Blakely with the Mobile Police Department has been named January's Officer of the Month.
Blakely has been on the force for 16 years.
"I'm honored to be a Mobile Police officer, and honored to receive this award," Blakely announced.
Blakely has been a member of the First Precinct Ranger South Details for three years. He works with new member to provide training and guidance.
"He is one of those people that you can depend on when you're in need of something," said Mobile Police Chief Micheal T. Williams.
At the Knights of Columbus Hall Tuesday, Blakely sat head of the table while Chief Williams talked about what a great job he's doing in keeping illegal drugs and criminal off the streets.
"It is a dangerous occupation. We knew that when we signed up. Every day we find a reason to get up and put the uniform on and to come to work so thank you," said Chief Williams.
