(MOBILE, Ala.) - Attorneys, along with a private investigator, met with the Major Crimes Unit at the Mobile County Sheriff's Office Wednesday to watch the surveillance video of the deadly encounter between Gil Collar and a campus police officer.

This footage could shed light on what happened Saturday morning when the USA freshman was fatally shot on campus by a police officer.

The big question: Why would an armed officer shoot someone who is unarmed?

According to Mobile County Sheriff Sam Cochran, the video points toward a lawful use of force, but the investigation is ongoing.

The Collar family attorney, Jerry Beasley, says he will comment Thursday on what his investigator saw after watching the video.

The video will also be released to the media Thursday afternoon, but not to the general public.

The sheriff says the video shows all the confrontation between Gil Collar and the officer, however, it does not show the moment when the gunshot took place.
