Choctaw County Crash Kills Teenager

(CHOCTAW COUNTY, Ala.) - A two-vehicle crash in Choctaw County Monday morning has claimed the life of a Silas teenager.

It happened at 6:50 a.m. on Highway 84. Ruby Sumlin, 17 was killed.

State troopers say Sumlin's car was hit from behind by a 1998 Pontiac driven by DeMarco Brown, 21, of Nashville. The Pontiac driven by Brown was hit from behind by a semi-truck driven by Ted Anthony Hales Jr., of Quitman, Miss. A passenger in Sumlin's car, Gwendolyn Sumlin, 37, and Brown were taken to a local hospital and treated for injuries.

Hales was treated at the scene and released.

No further information is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
