MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Passengers arriving a Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport have a new concept of how sweet home really is.

Many were disgusted with getting from Mobile to New Orleans, to a chartered flight to Houston.

Some say the whole thing was a logistical nightmare.

"They take their free trip and you can put it where the sun don't shine."

The first of 11 Delta flights landed in Houston just after 9 Friday morning.

A handful went to the terminal to catch connecting flights to other cities. Passenger Steve Abrams said it was a painful experience.

"To have us sitting there watching the wheels go around to find out which one is going to come out. And then finally I hear a rumor, oh it's outside and then I see my luggage just sitting there on the concrete with someone about to run my luggage over."

To some, seeing the U.S. Coast Guard and connecting with dry land was a cause for celebration.

"When we saw US Coast Guard it was a beautiful sight. I mean because we were like this is the United States. Somebody will take care of us. Somebody will help," said Mark Mazan.

Mixed emotions from cruisers who will never forget this fateful trip, a Valentine's Day rescue they all hope to forget.

"We're home. God is good and now we got to start all over. Another day," said Tina Briggs.

Passengers like Sandee Berry are just happy to have come back in one piece.

"Oh, I'm so happy to be home. I am excited to get in a car and go home and sleep in my own bed without sewage water and actually have warm food."
