(GULF SHORES, Ala.) A beach restoration project in Gulf Shores has been delayed for about a week.
City officials in Gulf Shores tell us they are in the process of laying down pipes that will eventually pump in the new sand. That was supposed to have started on Wednesday. It was delayed because a dredging vessel did not arrive in time. They expect to start pumping sand in on Tuesday.
The project is funded by the city, FEMA and Alabama's EMA department. It is to replace the sand lost during hurricanes Gustav, Ike and Ida.
