(ELBERTA, Ala.) Elberta police along with Summerdale police and the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office arrested Johnathan Jones, 32, after a high speed chase Thursday night.
During a roadblock on county roads 87 and 32, Jones pulled up to the area where officers were checking for driver's licenses and insurance. Police say when being questioned by police, Jones hit the gas and took off in his vehicle.
While being chased, Elberta Chief Stan Devane says Jones began throwing items out of his vehicle, including alcohol bottles and drug paraphernalia. Eventually deputies put spikes across the road and Jones' vehicle was stopped and he was taken into custody near the Florida state line.
Friday investigators found more items thrown of the vehicle during the chase including meth making materials. Chief Devane says Jones may also have thrown some type of weapon out of the vehicle however that hasn't been recovered yet.
Jones is charged with attempting to assault a police officer and reckless endangerment. He was booked at the Foley Police Department and will be transported to the Baldwin County Jail.
