(Mobile, Ala.) - Jennifer Todd spent most of Thursday collecting cash, dollar bills brown with age and nicotine off the walls of Paddy O'Toole's.

Each was left behind as a reminder that a good time was had, at Paddy O'Toole's.

"I've been here over 30 years," she said, "So its hard to look at it and go, wow, this part of my life as I know it will be over."

Jennifer has owned Mobile's iconic Irish bar for about 18 years.

The rest of those 30 years she spent here was as a waitress, earning money to put her through college.

Her recent decision to call it quits came as a surprise to patrons, but as a calculated relief for Jennifer.

"It's a lot more work than what people think," she said.

"There's been times I've been at a soccer game and somebody calls me and says the plumbing's backed up! What do we do?"

That's not to say Jennifer didn't like the place.

She revelled in the annual St. Patty's Day Tent Party, not complete without the annual Local 15 "Greenin' O' the Stache" (where she paints Local 15's Darwin Singleton green!).

And she was especially proud of the pub's patrons, who always knew where they stood, which was usually at the bar drinking form their favorite mug.

"I think everybody's just family, you know?" she said, glancing around the empty bar, "Like Cheers. Everybody knows everybody. You don't meet any strangers in here."

So as she packed up the memories, the phone rang.

"Paddy's. Yeah. I'm ok," she says to the person on the other end.

And people continued to stop by for their cup, hanging from the ceiling.

"It's gonna go home, on my dresser, and it's gonna stay there," said a young woman named Amanda.

So after nearly 34 years, Paddy's is saying thanks; thanks for the drinks, thanks for the dollars, and thanks for the memories.
