The UTV44 High School Game of the Week presented by Subway heads to Prichard Stadium for the 3rd Round of the AHSAA football playoffs between the Spanish Fort Toros vs. Vigor Wolves
This third round match up is a rematch from the regular season game in which the Wolves won 7-0 in week #8.
Spanish Fort has won four straight games since their loss to Vigor which includes victories in the first two rounds of the playoffs. Quarterback Joel Poe and running back Otis Smith lead the offense which averages 27.3 points a game, while the defense gives up an average of 13.9 points a game.
Vigor has won six straight games since their 10-8 loss to St. Paul’s during the regular season. The defense had been very stingy all season only giving up 7.3 points a game, but they will have to do it this week without start DE Darius Philon. Philon is out with a knee injury.
Both teams last met in the quarterfinals in 2008 in which Vigor won 28-16 and went on to win the 5A state championship.
