(MOBILE, Ala.) - UPDATE: French Airplane Manufactuer Airbus is set to make an important announcement Monday morning that could have a great impact on Mobile’s economy.

Alabama’s top lawmakers were all in downtown Mobile Monday morning and Sunday night.

The company treated them to an exclusive, private dinner party with Airbus executives Sunday night and a invite only Breakfast Monday morning at the Battlehouse Hotel.

It comes on the eve of the French aerospace company’s expected announcement of their first North American assembly plant, planned for Mobile’s Brookley Aeroplex.

Senator Richard Shelby, Senator Jeff Sessions, Governor Robert Bentley and former Governor Bob Riley all attended.

“We’re all on pins and needles,” Senator Sessions told Local 15 as he was arriving. “Hopefully it will be one of the biggest announcements in Mobile's history.”

The invitation-only dinner was kept a secret, but Local 15 sources tipped us off.

Senator Sessions told Local 15 the dinner was meant as a small, private preview of Monday’s announcement and a chance to bump elbows with Airbus’ CEO Fabrice Brégier and top brass.

Local 15 will air the announcement live beginning at 9:45 Monday morning and we will also be streaming it live from Local15tv.com.
