(ATMORE, Ala.) - Twin sisters Akeevia Lajosei Abner and Tekeevia Lasoeialan Abner have both been arrested and charged with reckless murder after a house fire killed their three children.

Aniyia Abner, Takia Abner and Michael Coleman all died in a house fire that happened on First Street in Atmore last week. Family members said the kids were home alone.

After investigation the twin sisters, both 18 years old, were arrested and charged with reckless murder.

"They showed an extreme indifference to these children’s lives and created a grave risk," Escambia County, Ala., District Attorney Steve Billy said in a release.

The sisters were taken into custody and booked in Escambia County Detention Center.

The State Fire Marshal says fire was caused by an unattended stove.
