(BAYOU LA BATRE, Ala.) - Cherry Stokes says she came face to face with the man now charged with her daughter's death, and she didn't realize it, until she saw his arrest on TV.

Isaiah Washington has been charged with the murder of Tammy Stokes.  Stokes remains were positively identified Wednesday.  Cherry Stokes says back in 2008, Washington walked up to her car while she was at a convenience store in Grand Bay.

"I have seen him, I looked right into his eyes at a mini mart and I'm pretty sure the whole time he knew who I was," says Stokes.  She says Washington attempted to talk to her granddaughter that day.  She says he's a known drug user, and believes that's how he crossed paths with her daughter.

The family is now preparing to lay their daughter to rest.  Stokes says the family has no money to bury Tammy.  The family has an account at Regions Bank in Bayou La Batre, if you'd like to help them.
