MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Keep Mobile Beautiful is giving you a chance to safely get rid of your Christmas tree, without sending it to a landfill.
Volunteers were stationed at several locations Saturday. The trees will be turned into mulch, and that mulch will be given away at a public event.
"It's not filling up the landfill and these will go right back in to people's gardens and all. So it's a wonderful program. Been doing it for a number of years and it's very successful," said Dianne Martin with Keep Mobile Beautiful.
There are a few things to remember: remove lights, tinsel, ornaments, garland, plastic bags and the stand. Volunteers will only take live trees that are not flocked.
