(MOBILE, Ala.) The Airbus assembly plant won't be up and running in Mobile for a couple years, but the aerospace giant is already taking applications for one specific position.
An opening for "Director of Human Resources" is now posted on the Airbus and AIDT websites. The company hopes to fill it by January and has already received 150 applications from all over the nation.
Other positions will be posted beginning sometime next year.
Airbus will create 1,000 new well paying jobs and the plant could create roughly 3,000 additional construction jobs.
If you submitted a resume in the past, you'll need to apply again online. But wait until the specific positions you're interested in open up.
With Mobile's unemployment rate close to 10 percent, folks are desperate for work and anxious for the opportunities Airbus will bring.
The best way to gain training in the aviation field locally is at the Alabama Aviation Center.
And Mobile Works may be able to help financially.
"Mobile Works provides training scholarships for eligible job seekers. We can pay up to two years or up to $10,000 for specific programs. We've already awarded over 100 scholarships," said Pamela Ware, Public Information Officer for Mobile Works.
