Man Shot in Front of His Family in Orange Beach During Road Rage Incident
(ORANGE BEACH, Ala.) - Police have charged a local driver with attempted murder after they he shot another man in an act of road rage.
It all happened on State Highway 182 near Rite Aid in Orange Beach around 11:00 a.m. Tuesday.
Police say it appears 54-year-old Steven Pinson of Ono Island was upset because 44-year-old Damon Hembree of McCalla, Alabama was driving too slow in the passing lane.
The two men argued and police say Pinson fired his weapon hitting Hembree in the chest. Hembree was traveling with his wife and two children at the time.
Hembree was taken by helicopter to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola.
"A 380 to the chest that's extreme indifference to human life. I think this is an appropriate charge," said Orange Beach Police Chief Billy Wilkins.
The chief says witnesses told police the argument started several miles before the shooting happened.
