OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WPMI) A man arrested in Okaloosa County for driving without a license is wanted for murder in California.

Ruben Martinez was arrested January 16 at the intersection of Beal Parkway and Memorial Drive in Fort Walton Beach. Officials say he originally gave the name Emilo Liberato Nunez, but gave his real name when he was picked up by immigration officials.

Martinez is wanted in connection with the stabbing death of Carlos Lewin in Chino Hills, California, in July 2003.

Martinez is currently being held in the Escambia County jail, awaiting extradition back to California.

It's not known how long Martinez has been in the Fort Walton Beach area.
