MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) The Mary G. Montgomery teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a student, turned herself in Monday afternoon.

Alicia Gray, 28, turned herself in to Metro Jail at around 3:30 p.m.

"Her attorney, she was able to make arrangements to turn herself in today. She was given a deadline of this afternoon to do so," said Mobile County Sheriff's Department Spokesperson Joe Mahoney.

Gray bonded out at around 5:30 p.m. Her bond was $23,500. Gray is charged with sexual contact with a student under age 19 by a school employee, two counts of sodomy, and sexual abuse.

The victim's attorney David Greene stated, "You trust the school personnel with your children and when the individual was entrusted with your kids is now accused of molesting your 14-year-old child. That is a very traumatic situation."

Greene said the family is relieved by Gray's arrest but angry.

"They are just absolutely heart broken, shocked, and they're hurt," said Greene.

He added, "They're very upset, and they are they're having and dealing with as best they can at this point."

Greene stated the 14-year-old boy has not been to school since the last week and is struggling to get his life back to normal.

"The fact that this young man is now scarred because a person in authority who was placed in authority took advantage of him," said Greene.

He added, "that was a misuse of power and when we pursue the civil case, we will be asking for a substantial amount of money for the damages.
